ENGLANDS JODI EWART WINS IN USA
English strokeplay champion Jodi Ewart made a quick start to the 2008-09 US women’s college season with a win in her first event.
She was six-under par for the 54-hole Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational and she won by a shot.
Jodi, a third-year student at the University of New Mexico, was trailing the leader by one shot with three holes to play. She birdied the par four 16th while her opponent bogeyed the 17th.
Altogether, Jodi had 14 birdies during the event, which was contested by 90 players over her university’s home course at Albuquerque. She was under par for every round and her play helped her college to win the team title by four shots. |

Jodi Ewart (Catterick Golf Club) successfully defended her title in the English Women’s Strokeplay Championship played at The Berkshire . With just one round to go, Lancashire’s Florentyna Parker seemed to have an unassailable lead but at the end of the day Jodi tied with Liz Bennett (Hampshire) on 3 under par. Jodi then went on to win at the fourth hole of an exciting sudden death play-off. Jodi also won the Under 21 and Under 23 trophies. Congratulations, Jodi!
Other Yorkshire players amongst the leading 36 who played the final two rounds were Emma Brown, Naomi Edwards, Nikki Dunn (who came 2nd in the Under 18 section) and Claire Starkie. |

How did they do? All will be revealed later in the year when the show is due to be screened. We’ll let you know the exact time and dates as soon as we are informed.
Linda Bayman is EWGA’s performance director; Kirstie Jennings is the compliance officer and Karen Cassidy is the compliance administrator; Sara Garbutt is a Yorkshire player and past winner of the English strokeplay championship; Kelly Hanwell is a regional development officer and Emma Lowe is tournament secretary |
