Yorkshire win Northern Counties Week

The EWGA Northern Region Counties matches took place at Carlisle Golf Club between 28th June and 2nd July.  Teams from 6 counties in the north competed against each other over the 5 days.  The format is daunting with 3 Foursomes matches played in the morning and 6 singles matches in the afternoon.  Yorkshire went into the final day with a total of 4 points and winning 21 1/2 games, just 1 point and 1/2 a game from their nearest rivals – Cheshire – who were their challengers on the final day.  After a tough morning Yorkshire won through finally beating Cheshire 6 and 3.

Yorkshire had a total of 5 points, being the only team to remain unbeaten all week.

The Final of the English Counties is at Kedlestone Park, Derbyshire 13th – 17th September 2010.
